This type of wood was very commonly used in our area for the exquisitely crafted Victorian buildings from the 1860's to the early 1910's. Since then it has become virtually extinct except for fast growth trees for quick harvest. The grain and finished patina is absolutely beautiful and is truly unique (some refer to it as white walnut).
These qualities make any butternut woodwork architectural salvage a truly one of a kind piece! This trim came from a Victorian office building in historic. The building was originally built as a Law Office and was still used for the same purpose until recently. The building was very original and always very well maintained.
